Professor Darren Oldridge: The Devil in Stuart England

Saturday 18 March, 2 – 3pm | The Commandery

The Devil was a commanding figure in the age of the English Civil War.

In this talk – the Devil in Stuart England – Professor Darren Oldridge invites you to turn the pages of seventeenth-century books that describe the Devil’s various manifestations: from a spirit in the mind to a physical creature that could annihilate sinners.

Darren Oldridge is Professor of Early Modern History at the University of Worcester.

£7 for the talk + optional half-price admission to explore The Commandery (entry to The Commandery is free if you have a residents’ or season pass). Plan your visit to The Commandery.

[Please note that this talk repeats a presentation given to a small audience in November 2022.]
