Nineteenth century scientific naval explorations provided many museums with the collections they hold today. Return to Oceania exhibition looks at what was collected and why. It considers the impact of colonialism and empire on indigenous peoples and reflects upon the consequences of human activity on the world’s great oceans and waterways.
