Autumn Exhibition | Reflections

Saturday 12 September 2026 – Sunday 3 January 2027 | Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum

Reflections is an invitation to immerse yourself in the fluid beauty and immense power of water. The River Severn, the longest river in the UK, has shaped Worcester’s identity and industrial heritage for centuries – and continues to today.

Curated with artists Wayne Warren and Jonathan Wright, Reflections features significant works on loan from the National Gallery and Glynn Vivian Gallery including works by Eugène Boudin, Charles-François Daubigny, Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot and Claude Monet, who all experimented with and mastered the art of capturing light, water and shifting reflections.

These fabulous artworks hang alongside works by a range of modern artists including David Hockney and Wilhelmina Barns-Graham, loaned from a private collection, and popular works from Worcester City’s own collection, including the much-loved ‘Chadding on Mounts Bay’ by Stanhope Forbes.

Reflections inspires the imagination and serves as a reminder of the human responsibility to protect the seas, rivers, streams and waterways that are vital for the future.

The exhibition is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am – 4pm, and Sunday, 10am – 3pm. Last entry is one hour before closing.

Exhibition admission

Tickets are required to visit this exhibition. There are a variety of ticket options to choose from. You’re welcome to pay in the shop when you arrive or secure your preferred slot by booking in advance now. The rest of the Art Gallery and Museum is free to visit as usual.

The exhibition is open from 10am to 4pm Tuesday to Saturday, and 10am to 3pm on Sunday. Last entry is one hour before closing.

Pay it forward | donate a ticket so a student can visit for free

Students aged 16+ can get free entry to the exhibition (student ID required) on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons.

These tickets are funded jointly by Worcestershire Heritage, Art & Museums Charity and public donations.

If you would like to contribute, please purchase a “pay it forward” ticket alongside your own. All donations are gratefully received, thank you.*

If you are a student, there is no need to book, just come along on a Wednesday or Saturday. Please note there are limited numbers of these tickets and they are available on a first-come, first-served basis from the shop.

*Any unused funds at the end of the exhibition will be donated to Worcestershire Heritage, Art & Museums Charity.

Pay it forward donation tickets can be purchased online or by calling the telephone box office on 0333 666 3366. Please note the date you choose when purchasing does not matter as the pay it forward donation tickets will be shared with visiting students throughout the exhibition.

Pre-bookable talks and tours for groups

Groups can enjoy an exclusive introduction to Reflections in a 30-minute talk with one of Museums Worcestershire’s curators, with entry to the exhibition included.

Introductory talks take place during opening hours, must be pre-booked, and capacity is for up to 30 people. Please get in touch with gallerymuseum@museumsworcestershire.org.uk for further information and to arrange your group booking.
