This autumn, get creative with a series of artist-led workshops at Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum.

Be inspired by autumn exhibition Reflections, the cosy changing of the seasons, and the brilliant creatives leading each workshop. With traditional felting, lino printing, fused-glass making, and festive floristry, there’s plenty to choose from.

All of the workshops are suitable for beginners, with materials and light refreshments provided.

Fabulous Felting | Traditional Felting with Penny Dixon

Saturday 26 September, 10.30am – 1.30pm

Taking inspiration from the Art Gallery and Museum’s autumn exhibition, Reflections, and its artists, this lovely, relaxing session which will introduce you to the art of wet felting.

You will learn to draft out unspun, soft fleece, then lay them in the best way to create a stunning picture or abstract piece. No drawing or painting skills are required. Using wool, soap and water, you will be guided through the process of agitating and rolling the wool fibres to form a wonderful piece of fabric.

This workshop is run by experienced textile artist, Penny Dixon, who has been felting for 18 years.

Please bring a large towel to work on and a waterproof carrier bag to take work home in. All other materials will be provided, as well as refreshments throughout the morning.

Tree Fusion | Fused Glass Christmas Tree Decorations with Suzanne Bunce

Saturday 17 October, 10.30am - 1.30pm

With Christmas on the doorstep, join Worcester-based glass artist Suzanne Bunce for a wonderful festive workshop.

Create your own unique festive fused-glass Christmas tree decoration. Try your hand at a new craft and learn the basic techniques involved to produce a stunning addition to your Christmas trimmings.

This is a fun and inspirational workshop for all abilities and you don’t need to be artistic, just enthusiastic! You will be able to make up to two Christmas trees with wooden stands and LED lights.

This workshop is run by artist Suzanne Bunce.

All materials will be provided, as well as refreshments throughout the morning.

Please note: Please wear close-toed shoes for the workshop. Your glass will not be available to take away on the day. It will be fired and be available for you to collect from the Art Gallery and Museum within 2 weeks.

Learning Linocut | Lino Printing with Jake Gammon

Saturday 21 November, 10.30am - 1.30pm

This lino printing workshop offers a hands-on, beginner-friendly experience to learn relief printing, carving designs into linoleum, ink them, and press them onto paper.

Take inspiration from autumn exhibition Reflections, which focuses on the fluid beauty and immense power of water, to create a unique piece of art. Enhance your wellbeing and knowledge, guided by Jake as he takes you through the process of this new skill.

This workshop is run by artist Jake Gammon.

All materials will be provided, as well as refreshments throughout the morning.

Festive Foliage | Christmas Table Centres with Florist Natalie Vale

Saturday 12 December, 10.30am - 1.30pm

Create a fabulously festive centrepiece to spruce up your Christmas tablescape with florist Natalie Vale of Witley Park Floristry.

Get into the Christmas spirit as Natalie leads you through the process of putting together your own unique floral piece using real foliage with natural and wild elements.

This workshop is run by florist Natalie Vale.

All materials will be provided, as well as refreshments throughout the morning.
