Families can enjoy an even more playful and accessible day out in Worcester with the launch of new family resources from Museums Worcestershire.
Complementing the exciting family offer of much-loved events and interactive trails at The Commandery and Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum, families can now explore with site-specific play guides and dedicated family webpages to help plan their visit.
Visitors can collect a brand-new play guide for free when they arrive. These play guides offer a new and child-led way for families to approach their visit, centring play, imagination, and sensory exploration, making the museums a perfect place for families throughout the year.
The family-friendly guides offer fun prompts and questions which will find children discovering shapes and colours in the Victorian architecture of the Art Gallery and Museum, and listening out for birdsong in the spacious walled gardens of The Commandery. The guides also feature original drawings waiting to be coloured in, designed by Curatorial and Exhibitions Assistant Isabel Edmonds. Families can bring their play guides to life, enjoy being creative and take them home as a reminder of the memories made.
Gemma Dhami, Museums Learning Manager, says: “We want our museums to be a place where families can come to play, laugh and let their imaginations run free. Our new play guides and webpages not only signpost our dedicated family spaces and events but also invite families to visit throughout the year and discover something new.”
There is so much to discover at Museums Worcestershire’s sites. Both museums have baby-change facilities, step-free access via lifts, are pushchair friendly and have family-friendly cafes run by Little Al’s Kitchen.
