Families can enjoy a plethora of fun medieval-themed activities this summer at The Commandery, Worcester. Explore one of the oldest buildings in the city with the Knight’s Quest trail, delve into crafty activity bags, and – on Bank Holiday Monday – join Knight School with medieval reenactments and more.
With a magnificent medieval Great Hall and original wall paintings, The Commandery is the perfect setting for Worcester’s young knights to gather this summer.
Families can explore The Commandery with the Knight’s Quest family trail, finding all of the knight’s symbols around the building – and completing mini challenges along the way. Pick up a Medieval Summer activity bag for even more creative fun: children can choose to decorate their own noble crown and sceptre, create a majestic castle, or make a valiant 3D knight and horse. The craft room is ready and waiting for families to make their creations.
The family trail and activity bags are available from The Commandery’s shop until Sunday 30 August; please note The Commandery is closed on Mondays, except bank holidays. General admission applies to all visitors.
Save the date for Medieval Mayhem on Bank Holiday Monday 31 August, when families can spend an exciting day at The Commandery with medieval reenactment group The House of the Twin Tailed Lion. The day will be a fantastic opportunity to meet 13th-century reenactors, and children can see if they have what it takes in Knight School! Then, the young knights can design their own medieval shield to take home. General admission applies to all visitors, with £3.50 for family activities.

Free play guides are available to be enjoyed too. Designed to be well-loved, coloured in and drawn on, the play guides encourage families to ask questions, be imaginative, and investigate what they can see, feel, say and do at The Commandery.
Visitors are welcome to bring along a picnic, or enjoy drinks and homemade food at Little Al’s Kitchen at The Commandery on site, with a lovely garden beside the canal.
General admission day tickets can be purchased online. Or, visitors can pay once and come back as much as they like through the year with a season ticket or Worcester residents’ pass (excludes January). These can be bought in The Commandery’s shop. Medieval Summer Activity Bags
On daily until Sunday 30 August (closed Mondays).
Pick up one of the Medieval Summer activity bags and head to the craft room to get creative.

Opening hours
The Commandery is usually open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am – 4pm, and Sundays, 10am – 3pm.
Medieval Mayhem on August Bank Holiday Monday: 10am – 4pm.
Last entry one hour before closing.
