At The Commandery

Get ready for a spook-tacular family adventure at The Commandery!

Where better to be in the October half-term holiday than one of Worcester’s oldest buildings?!

In a fun family morning, make your very own witch’s hat, create a mischievous mini monster, and craft an adorable black cat to take home.

Dive into the sensory messy play tables, and enjoy spooky colouring and creepy puzzles too. There’s plenty to get stuck into!

Then, set off on a fun family trail to explore the rest of The Commandery – step inside its magnificent Great Hall, try chimney sweeping like a Victorian, and run around the gardens – as you hunt for all the witch’s missing potion ingredients. Can you spot them all?

After all the Halloween-themed fun, relax with a drink, a biscuit, and a magical story to round off your session. Aimed at children from pre-school ages to 11 years.

Admission info

The family morning is £5.50 per child. General admission applies to all visitors and can be paid for on arrival or booked online. A responsible adult must stay throughout.

You can get free admission to The Commandery if you have a season or Worcester Residents’ pass (£5.50 for crafts still applies) – find out more and plan your visit. 

Wren Crowfeather, a very busy witch, has dropped the ingredients to her potion around The Commandery on the way to find her magic cat, Shadow, who is off causing mischief again!

Can you spot all the ingredients for her, so she can cast her special spell?

You might come across trolls’ toe nails, mermaid scales, swamp slime and more…

Get Arty Frightful Fairytales

Get Arty returns for the October half-term holiday – this time, it’s all about Frightful Fairytales!

In these fun, hands-on sessions, children can design and build their own pop-up story book inspired by scenes from their own favourite tales.

Will you explore the giant’s castle from Jack and the Beanstalk, escape from Rapunzel’s tall tower, or get lost in the deep dark forest?

Spark your imagination by creating a story cube to help you write your own magical tales. Who are your heroes, villains, settings, and props?

Delve into Frightful Fairytales at the Art Gallery and Museum in the October half-term holiday!

Pick up an activity bag to enjoy:

  • Creating a candy cottage collage inspired by Hansel & Gretel
  • Making a paper-plate wolf inspired by Little Red Riding Hood
  • Designing a poisoned apple keyring inspired by Snow White

The Art Gallery and Museum is fully equipped for young creatives to get going on their making. Each activity bag has multiple themed activities inside along with colouring and puzzle sheets – including a fairytale villain wanted poster!

Oh no! The fairytale villains have taken over the museum in the October half-term holiday!

Hunt for the beautiful hidden storybooks, collect the potion ingredients, and help break the villains’ spell.

Once you have found all the potion ingredients, draw your Happily Ever After Potion on your trail sheet. Don’t forget to collect your reward from the shop at the end!
