Festive Tales & Poetry with our Poet In Residence

Join our Poet in Residence Leena Batchelor for a morning of Festive Tales and Poetry in our beautiful herb garden. The pieces will all be brand new and written specially for the Commandery.

About Leena Batchelor

Leena has been writing poetry since the age of 16, and performing since 2014. Her 3 solo collections offer journeys through life, travels, relationships, and peeks into the darker corners of society and the judgements we make. Her work is included in over a dozen anthologies nationwide.

A Worcester local, Leena is a regular performer at Worcestershire LitFest & Fringe, 42 Worcester, and Dear Listener. She has collaborated with artists to bridge the perceived gap between spoken and illustrated art at various exhibitions, and is planning several interesting events during her tenure as Worcestershire Poet Laureate 2020-21.

Speaking of the opportunity to collaborate with The Commandery as their Poet in Residence from 2020, Leena says

‘As a lover of history, the chance to explore the layers of lives that have walked among the walls of this beautiful building is a dream come true. I am honoured to be The Commandery’s first Poet in Residence, and am excited beyond belief to be able to present these stories to visitors through both written and spoken word!’

This is a free event but museum admission applies. The event may be postponed in particularly bad weather.
