This winter step back almost two hundred years and delight in The Commandery dressed for Christmas inspired by Charles Dickens’ festive story ‘A Christmas Carol’.
As visitors wander the beautiful grade I listed historic building nestled in the heart of Worcester, they will discover vignettes of the spirits of Christmas past, present and future, encountering the Beetling shop and Marley’s ghost along the way.
Each weekend visitors can also take a tour to discover The Commandery’s Victorian secrets. Discover the 1881 census, visit the old kitchen with its hidden history and learn about the building and its inhabitants in Victorian times and how it has changed with each era.
The Victorian Secrets Tour takes place each Saturday and Sunday starting 1 December in the lead up to Christmas at 11.30am and 2.15pm, (Sundays 2.15pm only).
The Commandery is the perfect place to bring family and friends and to pick up those last minute Christmas presents in the gift shop and enjoy a festive treat in the café.
Sarah Bourne, Events Officer at The Commandery said: “As one of Worcester’s oldest buildings The Commandery has witnessed hundreds of Christmases. We want to take our visitors back to Victorian times and share these lovely stories with them. Come for a tour or just come for a wander through history, you’ll leave infused with the spirit of Christmas.”
