Corrina is an artist, art psychotherapist, lecturer, writer and activist. She is a Romani woman and has been prompted by personal experiences of marginalisation and oppression felt at the intersect of being both Romani Gypsy and a woman, to develop an interest in the privileging of marginalised voices and the challenging of social disparities and normative power, through art, activism and education.
Corrina has been a practicing artist for over 25 years working as a painter, with film and more recently with sculptural form and found objects. Despite not attending secondary school she completed her BA hons in Fine Art Painting in 2000, then went on to complete her MA in Art Psychotherapy in 2005 and work in a range of 3rd sector settings and in private practice. She has exhibited her art works extensively both in the UK and internationally.
‘Lines in the Sand’ Corrina’s first short film as both director and writer previewed at Cannes film festival 2012 and was also selected for Raindance film festival in the same year. In 2012 she co-founded the intersectional feminist arts organisation Sweet ‘Art and has worked as a lecturer specialising in the integration of intersectional and feminist thinking into art and arts therapeutic practice, with focus on the decolonizing of the visual realm. Corrina published her first book as co-editor in 2022 titled ‘Intersectionality in the Arts Psychotherapies’ and has published several peer reviewed academic texts as well as non-academic writing.
From 2022-2024 Corrina held the position of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Advisor for the International Journal of Art Therapy and co-guest edited a multi journal collaborative special issue exploring Intersectionality, Cultural Humility, Anti-Colonial and Re-indigenization of art therapy practice.
