Worcester’s heritage venues are coming together to host a nine-day celebration of the historic city for all the family.

As part of Love Worcester Heritage Festival, museums, churches and other heritage venues are holding events from Saturday 14 February until Sunday 22 February, including tours, trails, workshops and family-friendly activities. Many events are drop-in and free, but some require booking.

Dinosaurs are the theme at Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum, with roarsome family workshops kicking off on Saturday 14 February and a trail throughout the week. Meanwhile, later in the week, The Commandery will transport visitors to space with a themed family trail and craft activities on Tuesday 17 to Thursday 19 February.

On Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 February, families can discover some of the Mighty Royal Beasts hiding within Worcester Cathedral. Also, on Tuesday at St John’s Library, children can handle artefacts, listen to a story and create their own map filled with mythical creatures, hosted by Worcestershire Archive & Archaeology Service.

There will be tours of George Marshall Medical Museum on Monday 16 February, and The Infirmary on Wednesday 18 and Friday 20 February, with opportunity to handle objects and explore the museum.

At Tudor House the focus is drawn to Worcester’s fascinating history of wool and weaving, with a fascinating 30-minute tour and talk on Wednesday 18 February, and family drop-in weaving activities on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 February.

During Love Worcester, Sound and Art St Swithun’s is seeking out Worcester‘s next generation of musical talent, with workshops for 8-16 year olds. On many dates across the week, you can also discover the world of freemasonry at Worcestershire Masonic Library & Museum.

Living History in Worcester weekend will take place on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 February at The Commandery, Tudor House and Greyfriars House and Garden, bringing history to life with Worcester Reenactors. Also on Sunday, Museum of Royal Worcester is celebrating Chinese New Year with Worcestershire Chinese Association with bookable themed pottery painting.
