90s fans will be wowed by two special events coming up at Worcester City Art Gallery & Museum this summer.
The popular Museum after Hours events which see visitors experiencing the museum after closing time is returning for a celebration of the 1990s in tribute to the current exhibition, I Grew Up 90s.
At the first Museum after Hours on Friday 25 July, 6.30 – 9pm visitors can enjoy music from the Andy Richards Band whilst sipping cocktails with more than a nod to 90s classics; The Chumbawamba and Isn’t It Irnoic – a golden cocktail including Irn-Bru.
On Friday 22 August visitors are invited to dance the night away with ‘Le Grande Fromage’ who are well known on the Worcester circuit for their DJ skills and vinyl-only approach. Pull on your cargo pants and crop top or pull down that bucket hat and zip up that parka for an amazing night of tunes and cocktails, including the Champagne Super Nova and Smells Like Teen Spirit.
Museum events officer Tracey Ayre says: “The 90s was a decade filled with iconic music – from Girl Bands to Britpop. We intend to rock the museum with two evenings of chart-topping music, so come along to hear all your 90s favourites and come dressed in your 90s finest for a night of fun, nostalgia and cocktails.”
No booking is required for Museum after Hours, just drop in to the free events which include free entry to the I Grew Up 90s exhibition. Bar is cash or card.
In the exhibition I Grew Up 90s visitors can rekindle the memories of Britpop and Cool Britannia, from the Spice Girls to Lara Croft, Power Rangers to Pokemon, Trainspotting to Teletubbies, through more than 200 iconic objects and artworks which bring the 90s to vivid life and will inspire memories and moments for everyone to share.
