The Worcester Story – opening weekend

New permanent museum display opens Saturday 12 October | Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum

This exciting new display shows Worcester’s heritage presented in the words of those that know it best: the people who live in the ‘Faithful City’.

Discover which historic items are meaningful to 21st-century residents and what links have been forged with Worcester’s long history.

Which iconic objects from the museum collections – including the founding natural history collection of the 1800s and the archive of the globally famous Worcestershire Sauce – will resonate most with you?

Whether the city is your hometown or you’re exploring it for the first time, visit to find out!

This new display is a permanent part of the museum exhibitions; it is free to visit and no booking is needed.

Bite-size Talk | Telling Worcester Stories

This Bite-size Talk explores the behind-the-scenes curation of this new permanent display which took place in collaboration with the people that know Worcester best – its residents. The project is the culmination of work funded by Arts Council England and the Esme Fairburn Collections Fund.

Learn how our co-curation hopes to showcase new perspectives and feelings that celebrate what it means to be a modern citizen of Worcester.
