Support The Commandery
A Spectacular Historic Setting
The Commandery lies at the heart of Worcestershire’s 17th century Civil War story, and also represents multiple layers of history going back to the 12th century. It is one of Worcestershire’s key heritage attractions.
This venue welcomes more than 20,000 visitors each year with extensive updating of its Civil War interpretation displays.
The oldest venue of Museums Worcestershire’s portfolio, The Commandery is open to the public during eleven months of the year and hosts regular public events, often partnering with other heritage specialists such as The Battle of Worcester Society and the Sealed Knot. These events bring the Civil War to life for thousands of visitors every year.
The Commandery’s events are competitively priced to ensure that everyone can enjoy the unique heritage and beauty of the venue.
Philanthropic donations are hugely welcomed to support this fascinating building, its interpretation programme and its heritage events. In 2017, your donation is needed particularly to support the new interpretation displays and events taking place this year.

The Commandery has seen a thousand years of Worcester’s history unfold, from its humble roots as a monastic hospital to a dramatic period as the Royalists’ Civil War battle headquarters. It has survived thanks to the generations of people who understood its significance in the national story of liberty and democracy.
